In the run up for our final lab session, I went ‘Elon Musk’ mode by scheduling the timeline of each and every meeting during the week, so no minute was wasted. During the week our focus was researching issues and obstacles that impeded progress in our last lab session. In the meeting on the eve of the last day of reckoning, we first discussed how to transfer the torque of the servo to the claw then the poster to show of our blood, sweat and tears. The bulk of this meeting was spent brainstorming the issues we had then taking only 10 minutes to spurt out a range of possible solutions for it no matter how whacky they were. The result of this lead to 11 detailed and promising resolutions for the problems we had faced. Building upon this I split the group to three different teams. Each team would have its own schedule for the day to carry out the different solution which was time sensitive. I.E if it didn’t work out or required too much paperwork, move on to the next on solution. In this blog, I have uploaded the rough version of the schedule I hammered out...if you have the willpower to read my aborhont and illegible handwriting. In short the first team was just Matthew doing his brilliant implementation. The second and third team carried out solutions related to getting the claw working or even basic assembly.
Our final lab session could be described as controlled chaos, the robotic arm worked, but the red tape and stress levels were unreal. In this blog there is a video of the arm in action. On to the bench inspection next week!
